The territory of Alta Gallura contains extraordinary beauties, silent spectators of centuries of history and tradition. The villages in the area are granite treasures with buildings dating back more than 200 years, surrounded by archaeological sites of great importance, tangible remains of an ancient civilization. Far from today’s inhabited centers, immersed in the countryside, there are still ancient solitary structures that were the heart of rural life for shepherd-farmers: the Gallurese stazzi. Most of them, surrounded by mountains and somewhat wild, still exist with different appearances and new uses. As a testament to a great past, the small museums in the area have collected objects, work tools, and have reconstructed environments to tell the story of the farming and artisanal history of the past and the great heritage of carpet weaving art.
