Cycle tourism represents one of the most fascinating and sustainable ways to explore this part of Sardinia: a network of secondary roads, dirt tracks, and scenic routes connects historic villages, natural areas, and cultural sites, crossing holm oak and cork forests, hills dotted with granite boulders, and valleys cultivated with vineyards.

From Viddalba to Badesi: cycling among vineyards and the sea

An ideal itinerary to start with is the one connecting Viddalba to Badesi, following the course of the Coghinas river to the dunes and beaches of the coast. You cycle through orderly vineyards, small farms, and shaded stretches, with the possibility to stop for a wine tasting at a winery or a visit to the Archaeological Museum of Viddalba.

Once in Badesi, you can continue along the coastal road to enjoy the coastal panoramas, or climb towards the interior, where the Gallura countryside offers dirt roads and ups and downs ideal for those seeking a sporting challenge.

From Aggius to Limbara: among granites, forests, and panoramas

A more challenging but fascinating route starts from Aggius and winds towards the Limbara massif, through holm oak, chestnut, and cork forests. Country roads and forest trails lead to spectacular viewpoints, where the gaze embraces Gallura all the way to the sea.

In the village of Aggius, you can visit the MEOC Ethnographic Museum before departing, while along the way you’ll encounter natural springs, small abandoned farmhouses, and enchanting views. Mountain bike enthusiasts will find technical trails immersed in nature here.

Cork loop: Calangianus – Luras – Calangianus

A perfect loop for a day trip starts from Calangianus, crosses centuries-old cork forests, and reaches Luras, before returning to the starting point. It’s a mixed route between asphalt and white roads, crossing rural landscapes, small vineyards, and archaeological areas.

In Calangianus, a visit to the Cork Museum is recommended, while in Luras you can explore the Galluras Ethnographic Museum and discover the famous thousand-year-old wild olive trees. Along the route, there are numerous scenic stops, as well as suitable points for refreshment.
